At the middle school level, programming opportunities are moving towards providing personalized learning environments across all content areas which implement rigorous standards, focus on student growth, and recognize individual skills and talents. Staff collaboration is focused on the integration of technology across the curriculum. Personalized learning paths are developed in literacy through a workshop approach for each student to develop and demonstrate effective reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to become a productive, literate citizen. In mathematics, students are engaged through collaboration, problem solving, and real world application. A hands-on approach in science provides an inquiry-based classroom in which students are engaged in active, meaningful learning experiences. In social studies, students are empowered through project-based learning to connect critical content to the real world. Students have the opportunity to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) activities through problem based learning within our Smart Labs. Additionally, middle school students have opportunities to participate in a variety of courses, including robotics, world cultures and languages, physical education, art, music, agriculture, and computer applications.
