Community Building Field Trip - PLEASE READ

On October 21st, all middle school students will be attending a field trip to Camp Wonderland in Salem, Wisconsin for a Community Building Field Trip. This event is a great opportunity for students to engage in five hours of team building, confidence building, and problem-solving activities.

As part of the workshop, students will have the option to participate in a low ropes course. If your student has a physical limitation that prevents them from completing this activity, a supplementary option will be available.

Parents and/or guardians, please complete the ETMS Trip Form for your child. Please be sure to submit the form by Friday, October 17, 2025. This form will include all trip details and options, including:
  • Lunch selection – Students will need to bring a cold lunch from home or purchase one through the school.
  • Optional paid activities – While the main trip cost is covered for all students, there are two optional activities available for an additional cost of $5.00. Families can sign up and submit payment directly through the Google Form by using the QR code provided. Students can pick only one of the optional activities.

In addition to the Google Form, a physical waiver form must be completed and either turned into the basket in the main office. If your child needs a new waiver, they can pick one up in the main office. All ETMS students received a physical copy in WIN.

ALL STUDENTS WHO ATTEND SCHOOL THIS DAY WILL BE GOING ON THE TRIP

This trip is not optional for students and all students should plan on attending. If you choose to keep your student home this day, it will still count as one of your ten allowed absences during the year.

The Forecast for the day looks cooler so please make sure your student dresses for the weather

Halloween Dress up Day

Dear Middle School Families,

On Wednesday, October 29th, students will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes during the school day to show their school spirit!

The following rules will apply:

  • Costumes may not cause a disruption or distraction to the school day. For example: no revealing costumes or large props that are unsafe.
  • No weapons, toy weapons, or props replicating weapons are to be brought to school.
  • No costumes are allowed that would completely hide the identity of the student.
  • Costumes must not impair a student’s vision or movement.
  • Costumes may not show obscene materials or prohibited substances.
  • No masks are permitted.
  • No face paint allowed.
  • Costumes may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, nationality, disability, gender, or individual at the school.
  • If you are not sure, don’t wear it. If you have questions, contact Administration.
  • Inflatable costumes are permitted, but must be turned off while in class.

If students violate the dress code or any of the other listed items above, they will be asked to remove the costume for the day.

We look forward to seeing their costumes!

Our Student Council students will be organizing a costume contest on that day - More information to follow

Scheduling Meetings with Staff

We kindly ask that parents and guardians schedule a meeting in advance when wishing to speak with a staff member. Our staff have full schedules throughout the day, and unannounced visits can be difficult to accommodate.

We absolutely understand that emergencies can arise, and in those cases, we will do our best to assist right away. However, for all other matters, please reach out by phone or email to set up a meeting time. This helps ensure that staff can give you their full attention and that your concerns are addressed effectively.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a productive and respectful environment for both staff and students.

News from the ETMS Library

Good news!  The popular reading challenge, Battle of the Books is underway! We’ve had several students itching to get their hands on the 2025 Battle books and now they have them at their disposal. Did your student join a team? Battle of the Books is an option for students to compete in four-person teams, reading ten selected books from now until December. Then, in December, teams compete by answering questions pertaining to the selected books. The winning team from December’s battles will go on to the State with another ten books to read.  Below is a link to the list of ten books for the first round.  Questions? Feel free to call or email Mrs. Gross, Library Assistant (262) 642-6740 x4500 or grotra@easttroy.k12.wi.us

New Traffic Pattern

Thanks to the passing of the last capital referendum, we were able to completely redo our parking lot to improve the traffic flow and safety during drop off and pick up times. It is important that you follow the proper traffic flow to ensure our students and staff are safe and traffic can move smoothly. PLEASE DO NOT allow students to get in or out of cars on Graydon Avenue. Not only is this unsafe for our students, it will slow the flow of traffic for everyone. We ask that all cars dropping off or picking up their middle school students enter the parking lot and follow the route using the painted arrows. You will notice that the car entrance has been pushed further down Graydon and our busses have a separate entrance and exit. We are excited for this change and ask for your cooperation and patience as everyone adjusts to these changes. A paper copy of the traffic flow will be provided at RSG Conferences.
